| Geeta è un documentario vivace, crudo e onesto sul sincero tentativo di una madre di cambiare il destino di sua figlia dopo un brutale attacco con l’acido. Geeta dormiva con le sue tre giovani figlie quando suo marito, entrò nella loro stanza e gettò loro addosso dell’acido. Geeta è gravemente ferita, Neetu di tre anni è rimasta gravemente sfregiata e quasi completamente cieca, e il piccolo Krishna è morto tragicamente. 1,5 miliardi di donne e ragazze subiscono una qualche forma di violenza di genere nel corso della loro vita. | Nel ventesimo anniversario del Siff vogliamo ricordare un nostro caro amico, Bruno Rubeo, sostenitore del festival sin dalla prima edizione nel 2004. Scenografo candidato all’Oscar e collaboratore di Taylor Hackford e Oliver Stone ci ha lasciati il 3 novembre del 2011. Nato a Roma, Bruno Rubeo ha avuto la sua grande occasione nel 1986 quando Oliver Stone lo ha contattato per le scenografie di Salvador, e lui e il regista hanno continuato a collaborare per “Platoon” (1986), “Talk Radio” (1988) e “Nato il 4 Luglio” (1989) . Rubeo è stato lo scenografo di “A spasso con Daisy” (1989) di Bruce Beresford, per il quale ha ricevuto la nomination all’Oscar. Rubeo ha iniziato a lavorare con Taylor Hackford nel 1992 nell’epico gruppo chicano “Blood In, Blood Out.” Questo film ha dato inizio alla più lunga collaborazione professionale di Rubeo con Taylor Hackford che ha lavorato a “Dolores Claiborne” (1995), “L’Avvocato del Diavolo” (1997), “Proof of Life” (2000) e “Love Ranch” (2010). Oscar-nominated set designer and collaborator of Taylor Hackford and Oliver Stone, he passed away on November 3, 2011. Born in Rome, Bruno Rubeo got his big break in 1986 when Oliver Stone approached him about the sets of Salvador, and he and the director continued to collaborate on “Platoon” (1986), “Talk Radio” (1988) and “Born on the 4th of July” (1989) . Rubeo was the production designer on Bruce Beresford’s Driving with Daisy (1989), for which he received an Academy Award nomination. Rubeo began working with Taylor Hackford in 1992 in the Chicano group epic “Blood In, Blood Out.” This film began Rubeo’s longest professional collaboration with Taylor Hackford who worked on “Dolores Claiborne” (1995), “The Devil’s Advocate” (1997), “Proof of Life” (2000) and “Love Ranch ” (2010). | Viaggio attraverso i 100 anni del Cinema Armeno Nel corso del Siff e in anteprima Mondiale, verrà allestita presso Palazzo Gallone, dal 9 al 25 Settembre, una Mostra Fotografica in omaggio ai 100 anni del cinema Armeno, per mettere in luce l’eredità e l’importanza del cinema armeno nella storia cinematografica globale. Il Cinema armeno ha una storia ricca e affascinante e il SIFF presenterà una panoramica dei momenti salienti e delle figure chiave nel mondo del cinema armeno. La mostra è composta da scatti dietro le quinte, manifesti di film e ritratti di registi, attori e altre figure chiave nel mondo del cinema armeno. Un’opportunità unica per esplorare la storia del cinema armeno, i suoi momenti salienti e l’evoluzione nel corso dei decenni.
